DESCRIPTION

Bring your teaching of NVC to a new level with veteran trainer Miki Kashtan in these intensive, course recordings. The focus of this 6-session course recordings is on shifting the intention of your teaching from how to why while embodying the principles and practice of NVC every step of the way - from planning to delivery.

The methodology Miki offers is to start with understanding what the people in your audience face in their environment, continue with what they might want to learn and how NVC principles can provide them with what they want, and end with how you can frame the principles in a language and context that speak to your audience’s familiar experience.

Session Topics:

  • Session 1 - Why Focus on Principles?: This session provides an overview of the rest of the series. Instead of viewing NVC as a formal process of communication, and the OFNR components and the dialogue template as the centerpiece of your teaching, the premise of this class is to understand them as practice tools that help us deepen and integrate a transformation of consciousness. Another aspect of this session is a focus on the core principles of NVC and recognizing a number of approaches to living the NVC consciousness as a foundation for sharing NVC with others in meaningful and inspiring ways.

  • Session 2 - Titles and Basic Content: This session focuses on teaching you how to present a proposed workshop to potential attendees to give them a sense of what they might learn. Together, we will look at how you can imagine people’s needs and challenges and name your workshop in a way that speaks to those needs. In addition, by focusing on results rather than the process to get there, you can hone in on what specific aspects of NVC are more relevant to the intended audience and describe those in terms of what people can concretely do when they leave the workshop.

  • Session 3 - Preparing for the Workshop – I: This session focuses on teaching you how to prepare for a workshop, meeting, or presentation. Together we will explore a step-by-step approach that starts with imagining the experience and technique that speak to those needs, adapts the principles to concrete applications relevant to this particular audience, and generates activities that support integration. By learning to recognize the difference between what you want to share and what people want to learn, you can provide the most transformative experience that still responds to where people are likely to be.

  • Session 4 - Preparing for the Workshop – II: This session continues the process of preparing for a workshop to reach a level of relaxed presence that allows your plan to become simply an empathic guess that meets and then adapts to the reality of the situation you find. You do this by identifying for yourself the core ideas you want to cover and the consciousness shift you want your audience to experience. Such clarity increases your capacity to fluidly engage with your audience.

  • Session 5 - Engaging with Your Audience – I: In this session we begin to look at what happens once our plan meets the reality of the situation. After methodical preparation you now focus on how to be fluid in your delivery. One key principle for this session is to utilize the power of living and using NVC as distinct from teaching anything. By letting the teaching follow the experience, you provide opportunities for your audience to understand the consciousness shift viscerally rather than conceptually and relate each individual interaction to the larger principles, key points and goals that support participants.

  • Session 6 - Engaging with Your Audience – II: In this session, we continue our focus on how to maximize your effectiveness in the actual delivery of NVC training. One key area of focus for this session is use of language, making it as fluid and culturally relevant as possible to avoid leaving the impression that you are asking people to become someone other than who they are. This session also covers ways of empowering your audience to engage with their lives and circumstances as change agents. Lastly, we will look at how you can leave people with a practice they can do after the workshop is over.

Recommended experience: This is an advanced series intended for people who have been sharing NVC with others in a workshop, practice group, retreat or classroom setting for some time and have a lived experience they can bring to class. It is not designed for people who want to learn how to get started in sharing NVC with others.
